BIO

A guitarist since early childhood, Colin Thomas Isotti has had a wide-ranging musical journey. Beginning with finger-style acoustic guitar at age seven, he is now an accomplished musician, singer-songwriter, poet and troubadour.

After his start with acoustic classical guitar, he cut his teeth playing electric guitar in blues and rock'n'roll clubs across New England. Played lead guitar/sang background vocals for a heavy-rock band that landed a recording contract and toured for several years. Then formed a 3-piece power trio and while acting as frontman and manager, helped build a die-hard local following. All this time, Isotti also developed his skills as a solo troubadour/singer-songwriter.

Born in New Hampshire, he was raised in the rural Northern Appalachian setting of the Monadnock region. From that and the  native Texan that helped raise him, Isotti grew up with earfuls of Mountain music and southern proverbs. This all built a deep admiration for the poetry and songwriting of Appalachian, Southern, and Western America. After spending years in different musical wheelhouses, Isotti centered his songwriting around genres traditional to these regions: folk, bluegrass, Americana, classic country, and Western.

While back in New England, an impromptu recording session led to the release of his first single "White Mountain Blue" that depicts the story of his move down to Tennessee and his love for his native region near the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Recorded with engineer Don Richardson and his good friends Tyler Allgood and Clay Lyons under the name "The White Mountain Boys"—this group may take the stage whenever Isotti is back up in New Hampshire.

While in Tennessee, Isotti has  joined forces with James Masanotti (Fiddle)–Jacob Markus (lap/pedal steel)–Zach Pine (upright bass) to form a down-home good timin' group named "Dirt Fried Gold".

DFG is a unique group of musicians competent in jazz, classical and traditional American styles. They are able to blend a variety of string music and song from bluegrass to vintage Western swing; from gypsy jazz to hopped-up classical arrangements—and much more!
